fringe science

There is a stigma to fringe science. People ridicule that which is beyond their power of reason. It is like airplanes in the 1800's - the steam age. Flying machines were the province of kooks and crazies. The technology was doable, but men of science preferred to laugh at ideas that were new. In fact, as a result the airplane was developed in the next century by two bicycle repair men.
